More guitar songs from the 90's

I just can't get enough of 90's acoustical guitar songs. Both these were popular while in college and reborn in scary acoustic versions.

Here is the Toad the Wet Sprocket song, All I want. Gabbie bought the song on Itunes and just had to learn it.

This is the Verve song, Freshman. It was on a Cold Case episode and just thought it would be cool to learn.

Anyways once again, scary I know.

Amtrak and the coast

Its 7:45 on friday night and I am taking the Amtrak to Sac to meet Gabbie and Liana, because they drove there this morning. Above is a pic from the train of the bay. While on the train I got a paper and too my dismay the Oak to Ninth project in Oakland is getting opposition, par for the course in the bay area. This is a huge condo mixed use job in the estuary area of Oakland where years of neglect has left large industrial areas underused.

Of course the usual suspects like the Sierra Group are once again gathering petitions to stop this urban renewal project that will help revitalize Oakland and provide jobs, job training etc......Just as the backlash to any development in the bay area like the Albany waterfront, these freaking groups fail to see the benefit of even an infill development over their special interests of maintaining the environment, as is. I think it's ironic that liberal environmental people who are about change, fight to preserve the status quo.

So as I gaze on the bay view and shoreline I wonder about all these groups fighting to protect the shoreline for the greater public use. The great headlines like, "Trails and recreation for all to enjoy and play." Well then I take a look from the train and see 2 people on these newly built trails and 2 people fishing. All this talk of preserving public access to the bay at all costs sounds great, but really protected for a select few, while the rest suffer in the high housing costs of the bay area.....

Flying day

As you know it, one of the few times I need to fly is the day we go on a red terror alert. So I had to leave anything liquid at home including saline, toothpaste, and shampoo......

Not to mention security was real fun. The photo above is the lovely line at Oakland airport. But the security line was lile a half an hour so not too bad.

Jae and Liana

No, we didn't have another child, well not yet. This is me with Jae, Jessica and Jonas's daughter, with our little Liana. They came over last week and I got to see what it feels like to have 2 kids! Yikes!

Here is Liana with her Daddy's Little Princess outfit. Very cute and true.
